Seven persons have been hospitalized after thugs invaded Okponha community in Ovia North East local government area of Edo State.
The attackers, who were alleged to have come from a neighboring Ofunmwengbe community, reportedly shot sporadically in the area.
Sources told The Nation that both communities have been embroiled in boundary dispute.
The Chairman of Okponha Community Development Association, Wilson Osaze, said the attack occurred while they were at a foundation laying ceremony of a building belonging to a member of the community.
He said the unexpected attack forced them to run in different directions to avoid being hit by bullet.
The Public Relations Officer for Edo State Police Command, Stephen Onwochei, confirmed the report and said the police had made arrests.
He added that efforts have been intensified to arrest others youths involved in the attack.
