Three arraigned for fraud in Edo


Three persons including a couple have been arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court for alleged N1, 460,000 fraud.


The accused, Vincent Collins (45), his wife, Joy (42) and Enuki Maria (42), were arraigned on a five-count charge of stealing and obtaining money under false pretense.


They pleaded not guilty to the charges.


Police prosecutor, Sylvester Omor, informed the court that the accused collected the sum of N1,290,000 from one John Kannu under the guise of procuring traveling documents for him to Germany.


The suspects were also alleged to have collected the sum of N30,000 from one Alako Tochukwu with the pretence of procuring traveling documents for him to Germany.


They also allegedly stole and converted the sum of N140,000 belonging to one Uchenna Collins to their personal use.


The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. C.A. Nwoha, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 each and a surety in like sum who must be a house owner and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
