Police foil abduction of Indian in Lagos

Suspect arrested

The Police on Saturday foiled an attempt to kidnap an Indian in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Patricia Amadin, said a suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident.

She told the News Agency of Nigeria that a staff of De-Star Metal Company, Odonla, Ikorodu, and others still at large were in involved in the crime.

“A man simply identified as Timothy, 35, an old employee of De-Star Metal Company had planned with three other men to kidnap an Indian working in the company in order to demand a ransom from the company.

“Immediately the report was received, the DPO swung into action and began investigations to get the details.

“On August 6, police detectives from the station visited the company and Timothy was arrested,’’ the police spokesperson told NAN.

Amadin said the suspect had made some useful statements to the police on the kidnap bid.

She said a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing members of the gang.
